I think a lot of the reasons this exists is because of a trust issue. There are a lot fake products over there in stores. When I was over there, getting things like protein powder was hard. They'd have the same brands in stores... but I thought they were fake, didn't taste the same as in aus. I didn't go as far as importing the stuff myself... just ate more dumplings.. but i can imagine locals wanting a way to get legit products from trusted sources.

Wall Mart has been in china for ages... the fact that daigou even exists to begin with amazes me.
