Interesting comments on the ' undisputed quality ' of Australian and New Zealand dairy products . It was only last year or the year before that NZ whey powder was contaminated with bacteria and used in all manner of consumer dairy products. Court cases and pay out continues . The European and American both produce very high quality dairy products and have been producing high quality dairy products for many years they will steadily take market share from Australia & NZ in the Asian market.
Both Australia and NZ products milk from pasture which is variable and influenced by seasonal conditions. The other issue with pasture is they are easily contaminated by agricultural 'spray drifts' including herbicides and pesticides which impact milk quality.
