Welcome to the second edition of the Gulf Gazette – Gulf’s newsletter for staff, local Communities and Stakeholders. Activity levels are set to increase at Kupang considerably, not only due to construction, but also recruiting and training the right people in preparation for operating the smelter.
Refurbishment of the furnace equipment in South Africa has been completed, and is now ready for shipment. The rewinding of the transformers is progressing well and they will be ready for shipment in early in 2018. Work is now progressing to finalise the shipping arrangements for the furnaces to depart Durban in January 2018.
Power supply has been secured at Kupang, with an MOU signed with PT PLN (Persero) for 20 MVA power supply.
Following the recent securing of additional funding support from key investors, Gulf is in a strong financial position to execute a number of key milestones next year."
