The situation has changed significantly since the ACCC knocked back the 2002 merger plans of API and Sigma.
Multinational mega corporation DHL now in the distribution space and has the might to become a full line CSO wholesaler and probably want to soon. Certainly with major Pharma companies like Pfizer and AstraZeneca going direct also counters any ACCC arguments. Woollies, Coles distribute and now operate pseudo pharmacies (stock full ranges of unscheduled products) in all their stores.
The issue of contraction of control over groups is a non issue because of the independent ownership of pharmacies and a competitive marketplace. Now with 300plus CW stores even more competitive than 2002.
I would think the ACCC would still look hard at it but it is different now.
