Actually the term bio-assets is a legitimate terms when a company does its financial reporting, it relates to standardising accounting treatment of various assets and is defined under IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) as IAS41 and for Australia it comes under the AASB (Australian Accounting Standards Board) guidelines for the same, referred to as AASB 141.
Essentially it is an accounting reference for living plants or animals that are used for the express purpose of harvesting. It is a useful measure as it normalises values across the agri-sector for both investment and valuation purposes even though there is the usual variability over how exactly the values are derived.
I am not a fan of the description and it reminds me of some companies referring to employees as "human capital".
What bio-assets PDF has I don't know but the report and the issuer would be careful in ensuring its accuracy especially at this tender stage of where PDF is at right now.
