Hopefully not off topic. My wife takes close up photos along the lines of the beautiful images on this thread.
Mostly of flowers but occasionally insects when they are there. One example:
A "weed" in our garden.
She uses a Nokia Lumia 920 mobile phone and we have fruitless discussions about whether or not using equipment like those mentioned in this thread would be better for her.
Fruitless because she is happy with the images she takes and finds the almost impressionistic nature of them is what she is attempting to capture. The size, weight and complexity of "better" photographic equipment would probably mean no photos or very few.
She takes the photos and I handle most of the computer end.We had the above photo processed online to a 75x100 cm canvas print and the result is surprisingly good considering the image was from a mobile phone.
Once one has thousands of images what to do with them?
Nothing to many other options depending on so many factors.
