Message from the CEO Nov 2017

    To our valued Nearmap shareholders,

The month of November 2017 marks an important milestone for Nearmap, the 10th anniversary of our first imagery capture in Perth in November 2007 – imagery which is still available to our customers today. We have grown significantly in that decade and continue that growth – including ranking in this year’s AFR Fast 100 list.
We also celebrate the launch of our Panorama & Oblique Aerial imagery, with a link to an article on the release of this product in the US. We have also included a link to a 3D fly-though of Coffs Harbour, created using images from one of our first captures in Australia using our HyperCamera2.
As always we include some customer case studies of the benefits which our imagery brings to our customers. As we approach the festive season, I would like to take the opportunity to wish all our shareholders the compliments of the season and look forward to communicating with you about Nearmap in 2018.
    Rob Newman
    CEO and Managing Director

New Panorama & Oblique Aerial Imagery Released
Nearmap has long provided vertical imagery (also known as orthorectified imagery) covering about 88 percent of the AU population and 70 percent of the US population. Today, it extends its location content to include new aerial geospatial data services—Nearmap Panorama and Nearmap Oblique imagery. This enables users to view perspective maps in all cardinal directions for small or large areas in uninterrupted fashion and to interactively inspect and measure the height of features.

Commercial 3D Fly-through of Coffs harbour

Commercial capture of oblique imagery through Nearmap's HyperCamera2 production unit is now underway and our first captures in Australia includes Coffs Harbour.

Powercor Improves Network design and Boosts GIS Accuracy

Powercor Australia owns and operates the largest of Victoria’s five electricity distribution networks, with approximately 540,000 poles carrying 85,000 kilometres of power line over a total network area of almost 150,000 square kilometres.

With Nearmap feeding seamlessly into its AutoCAD, Powercor’s drafting team designs straight over the top of georeferenced aerial photographic surveys. This has led to significant improvements in the designs it produces for network projects, providing project stakeholders with more detailed information, such as actual ground distances and coordinates found in the real world.
