My apologies if my spelling faulters every now and then. Using an ipad with big fingers and auto spell can be problematic at times.
Read my comments carefuly , you are drawing erronous conclusions that i am no making. Indeed putting money down for a reservation is no obligation to buy and it is essentailly an interest free loan to Tesla, yes. But deposit rates in the US are virtually zero so there is little opportunity cost. Moreover, quite a few people trade their resevations for profit and many for refunds. If you have money, its not a big deal and for a company its nothing. I will also make the following points.
1) If you read the terms, Tesla does not put the money in any trust account or segregated account. Basically if the company exhausts its cash or folds, your deposit is gone, they use in their operations.
2) They do build lemons. For a company that produces so few cars, the problems and issues they have are profound, the numbers are excessive by any metric and way above anything other car makers experience. Reputable motor journos have consistently placed a Tesla in the top 10 of unreliable and problem riddled cars.
3) You claim they cannot meet demand. Wrong. They cannot meet their own basic production targets. They have consistently missed their own modest targets and they are very modest compared to real carmakers. They have done this for years. I invite you to look at the data. Its all there in black and white. Their latest disaster the "3" they can barely turn out a couple of hundred cars after promising 1500/month and to ramp up from there and was in July. That has now been pushed out into 2018 sometime.
4) Their revenues are not going to be insane, they lose on every car, their margins are shocking, look at their numbers its all there, so far they have relied upon subsidies and certificates. I actually posted a link to a piece that highlights some of these issues, you did not read it.
His presentation night last week is about capital raising. He is lattering up the faithful. That is all it is.
I do agree on one point , this has no relevance to PDN and best drop Tesla and focus on stocks here in Oz.
