debdeb happy to share information gathering with you especially in response to questions. You information about Medicollect is spot on. To give you an idea of the size of Medicollect, some parlimentary report in WA suggested the Medicollect revenues are about $10m. I think STP uses them to treat their Sharps waste. If you check the AGM presentation from the previous MD he talks about a move into WA, but it's more likely to be in opposition to Medicollect. From what I gather the guy in charge of Medicollect is hostile towards any approaches. I may have mentioned previously that incineration is not the be all of medical waste treatment. In fact Medicollect says on their website that they incinerate only 10% of their waste and 90% is treated by Matrix technology, similar to what STP has in NSW, but it could just as easily be some other alternative (cost around $1m?). Using their Sharps platform to win business, STP may be able to grow quite quickly. Monopoly today, gone tomorrow.
A move into SA is also possible down the track (again only one (aged) medical waste incinerator in SA - in a dry creek if that means anything?) but that may be more straightforward as it involves a company looking to get out of the medical waste business if moves in Victoria are anything to go by.
There may far more important acquisitions that may be a possibility and I prefer not to post about them but if you suggest an alternative mechanism I am happy to share what a bit of scratching can reveal.
Also don't get stuck on waste. If you check STP's industry group it's services & supplies. Waste has helped STP build an infrastructure. I could go on...
