The graph shows the reported long shorts, below shows the amount of short selling intraday, which may be closed out before the end of the day.... this is death by a 1000 cuts, and takes advantage of the trend and reinforces the trend. I can't imagine that this could be done easily by a person, but an algorithm which can see every trade microseconds before every other computer can do this by front-running. That's why day trading is so tough these days .... the algo's anticipate your every move.
Look at the column below "shorts as % of volume". I suspect now that SLR has been established as "oversold", TPTB will go heavy long and till it reaches an "overbought" technical status, then the shorting process starts again - ' wash, rinse, repeat ' .... " it's not personal, its just business ".
Next week will see a sharp SP rebound as analysts give their stamp of approval to the quarterly, most having a 60c+ valuation, albeit somewhat reduced from former levels.
