The market is full of different buyers and sellers with different levels of sophistication. Not everyone flies by the seat of their pants. Some people have strategies which involve diversification, time frames, commodity cycles comparative rates of return etc. I suspect the longer term players would be the latter given survival bias. Besides you'd have to think the institutions like Greenstone are doing something more than you suggest.
