Oct 12 (Reuters) - Australia's Whitehaven Coal Ltd (WHC) on Thursday said equity coal sales were 4.7 million tonnes in the September quarter, up 23 percent from the same period a year earlier.
"Strong sales performance was underwritten by record quarterly railings," Whitehaven said.
The figure topped a UBS forecast of 4.2 million tonnes.
