I make my money in Healthcare and recently A2M - however I can produce large alpha with mining stocks. I come at the equation from the view of an Ex Geologist so I understand the risks (rocks). I find it difficult to talk to traders - or punters. They talk about the vibe - trading volumes etc with 100% zero understanding of the rocks - phew. Anyone who knows the rocks knows the risks - and that is before we start talking management, finance - location and luck...
I have invested in SAU as the rocks are good - management are exploiting a niche - risk is relatively low (but I am able to lose my whole holding without stress). My bigger punt is in IVR - but that is based solely on the rocks being too damn good (and past exp at Olympic Dam - which got me into Prominent Hill before Oxiana grabbed it). Just need one of my 5 - 10 holdings to hit it and Alpha will be mine ha ha ha..
Good luck to the holders here - if nothing else those who took the div in shares have made some money if they have sold now ( I am still sitting - dont need the cash).
