I'm a believer that PMs are manipulated downwards until natural market forces overwhelm this manipulation and "managed retreat" occurs. There's no way gold or silver would ever be able to trade freely. That would be the end of fiat currencies if that was to occur. Mining stocks are extensions of this manipulation and downward pressure is often exerted to keep the market not excited.
I too believe, metal prices will eventually break free. Companies like SAU can actually set up things nicely, until this moment occurs. I'm willing (not happy) to be patient though.
