Oil has two major problems at the moment:
1. Vulnerability to climate change, c.f. Hurricane Harvey and the catastrophic flooding in Houston, Texas;
2. It's one of the direct causes of the above climate disruption.
Lithium does not have these inherent problems, although maybe some of the mines and ports related to shipping might be vulnerable to climate disruption. In any case, I suspect the events in Texas will only serve to accelerate the perceived value of lithium.
