Do you actually shop? ; Biodegradable bags in the fruit ; veggie section has been a staple for many years at both Coles and Woolies.

Also its not the bags wrapping around and killing a few lethargic turtles / dolphins that is the primary issue. Plastic breaks down over time to nanoparticles that are then absorbed into the food chain ~ and guess who is at the apex of most food chains. The idiot who threw the bag away ~ or at least their descendants.

Would expect a massive increase in bin liner sales where the cheap easy shopping ones are removed. However most plastic bags went inside the rubbish bin not as liners. Anyway won't be long and suitable non-plastic substitutes will be provided

Agreed store provided plastic bags are only a small part of the total plastic problem but at least they are something that the average person can do to reduce the problem.
