NO, monopoly is ALL ABOUT MARKET SHARE, that is what monopoly is. If any competitors die off like you said then Amazon should be growing in market share but even in the US it isn't growing significantly beyond the e-commerce portion that make up majority of that 5 percent retail, which EXCLUDE food retail, imagine that. We know that amazon is heavily struggling to grow their retail presence in America that they eventually bought an organic grocer PHYSICAL retail chain.

So what you are doing at the moment is projecting your reclusiveness onto others assuming that everyone is like you and is just piling on the hype revolving around doom and gloom to entertain yourself. Somewhat makes you feel good I assume.

So Amazon has reached very close to its peak expansion in the US where cost is extremely low, very high income and high population number, low regulatory environment and biggest e-commerce sales in the world. Just 5 percent market share including e commerce excluding food retail, 5 percent including E-commerce.

Lets bring amazon to Australia, where it has no infrastructure set up yet, very high cost, low population number, high regulatory environment and miniscule e-commerce sales. How much market share would Amazon get? You are dodging this question because you are unable to answer it because it will destroy your own argument. Thats what you get when your argument revolves around biased hot air sentiment. Just like your comments on how Australia should pursue nuclear armament.

We have Coles and woolies that have online services and yet I have never use them because there is no point in paying postage cost that may cost 10-200% or more of the value of the product I am buying especially having to wait a day or more for a peoduct I want to use immediately. It is a different story for fridges, mobile phones, dyson fan, games, etc.

The thing about API strategy is that they make sense. They are fighting on lower margins to maintain market share and grow them. Opening up new stores to significantly increase convenience and profit. There is no way a person would order anything online if the shop selling the product is only 5-10 minutes away. Why wait? Why pay postage that may cost 100% of the price of the item unless you are a social recluse? API appeals to specific set of customer base and that is why I think API is extremely well managed.
