If you were to at least do some research before posting, you would easily find that Etahne, provided it is in reasonable quantity, has many important uses if one wants to make use of them. The reason I am saying that is because I know that it can be done and used in other parts of the World.
Herein some informations which you, and some others posters which might be ignorant of the facts, can read and come to learn about it.:
a) Ethane has many uses. It is the second most abundant component of natural gas that is commonly used in many homes. It is also used to produce a chemical called ethylene, which is a chemical needed in manufacturing products like plastic, automotive antifreeze, and detergent.
b) Ethane (/ˈɛθeɪn/ or /ˈiːθeɪn/) is an organic chemical compound with chemical formula C2H6. At standard temperature and pressure, ethane is a colorless, odorless gas. Like many hydrocarbons, ethane is isolated on an industrial scale from natural gas and as a petrochemical byproduct of petroleum refining. Its chief use is as feedstock for ethylene production.
Related compounds may be formed by replacing a hydrogen atom with another functional group; the ethane moiety is called an ethyl group. For example, an ethyl group linked to a hydroxyl group yields ethanol, the alcohol in beverages.
c) Ethane properties
Table 1 [31,460 bytes] summarizes the physical properties of ethane. Because the critical temperature is close to ambient, ethane is normally in vapor form (for example, as a minor component of natural gas), and it cannot be easily liquefied and transported as can propane and butane.
The calorific value (CV) of ethane is about 1.8 times that of methane. A typical natural gas with 5% ethane content will have a CV of about 4% higher than a mixture containing methane only. Thus, ethane does not make a major difference to natural gas properties at this concentration level. The question of ethane removal is normally an economic consideration.
d) Ethane prices were mostly range-bound during the first half of October, averaging about 19.648¢/USG during the two-week period, but have bucked any movements seen in the natural gas market.
Petrochemical producers with the ability to crack ethane as the main feedstock have been heard using more of the lighter feedstock. While ethane's premium to its fuel value continues to increase, there has not been any word on easing ethane rejection.
And finally, look/read the link below and look at the futures for Ethane prices,.............. climbing.....
That is not to say that it won't come at a cost, but this could also be looked into it if it could be done or just let it go to waste.
