Yes fertilizer PRODUCERS are drought proofed. They merely need to export to regions not affecetd by drought and it is currently a sellers market with shortages impending in key food production rims eg India for the coming kharif growing season. If you are a RETAILER of fertilizer it is a different proposition when the region you supply is hit by drought.

GM crops will not reduce the need for fertilizer. Thats laughable. It actually increases the need for fertilizer because you generate larger yields.
