I appreciate that a moral imperative in pursuing a claim arguably overrides other factors, and I do believe that if there has been any wrongdoing then those involved should be held to account, but the fact remains that I would like to understand the financial consequences of committing to the claim before doing so.

Vannin were unable to clarify this for me on the phone so I now reach out to the community to see whether someone can offer a layman like myself a layman’s answer!

Bit worrying that you're signing up to a claim via a firm that was "unable to clarify" a basic process of the very nature of their business.
