The $100m is indeed a nice round number. There is some basis to it though - it is based on the number of shares brought in the periods mentioned and the subsequent changes in the share price as the information was revealed.
In terms of long term - all depends. Worst case - SRF goes under. Best case - SRF settle, or case goes away quickly.
I would advise all to read the claim in detail. SRF are in a real bind. Their counter court case against Coastal watch alleges the exact behaviour from Cameron that the class action is based on. I.e. SRF is admitting it.
Whether anyone likes Class actions or not - the fact is there is more to this story than just poor management and board governance etc.
