it's because he would be stupid to do so. the UK model is based on much more density of population in city areas, so the distribution of online retail would obviously be feasible.
if Amazon set up here in OZ, they would have no chance of getting product at the same discount as Woolies and Coles due to volume.
even competing with Harvey Norman and JB Hi Fi is a pipe dream. anyone can buy online as is.
the real issue is the cost of delivery and that can't be changed, unless you use a drone.
