Hi BT,
I believe they would be seeking an international patent (including Australia) as this is where the money is. It doesn't happen overnight and there is a long drawn out procedure prior to being granted the patent. From memory though you are protected from the date you lodge the patent, subject to any challenges. Its been a while since I was involved in this but I vaguely recall the basics.
I think False mentioned somewhere that he thought that we had moved passed waiting for the director to sign and that we were now waiting on the company to finalise the funding prior to announcing. I recall he mentioned that the deal (he thought) wasn't conditional on funding, though the company was seeking it.
A lot of these mineral sands companies are Government owned, especially in India, Sri Lanka etc (where there are a lot of mineral sand companies), so I would guess that getting funding via any government department would be a long drawn out procedure, especially in these Asian countries.
The last quarter update did mention that they expected this deal to be finalised in this quarter, which ends in 8 business days, so I hope that MT has considered APG's history of not sticking to deadlines when he allowed the release regarding the deal closure to be published, otherwise its just another short term disappointment.
The company has a massive amount of up side to it, especially now, so for the time being I top up every week.I have seen the shares go from 3.5 cents to 10.5 cents before in a short period of time and I can tell you its more fun than Luna Park.
