Hi Forrest, as you say it is a very positive newsletter.
One highlight to me was the news of the approval of the Cellestis QFT test by France, not only have they approved it but they have said it should be used instead of the old TST test.
France has a very large immigrant population, many from Africa where TB both active and latent is rife. Most of these individuals are BCG vaccinated thus the TST is useless anyway. France and many other European countries are only now waking up to the fact that they have a very big problem with TB.
Personally I have always felt that Europe as a whole, both Eastern and Western Europe, will possibly turn out to be the biggest market of all for Cellestis particularly now with the drug resistant strains coming out of Eastern Europe.
The world as a whole has a huge amount of work to do before even getting TB under control once again, let alone reducing the TB burden to the stage that they have it beaten. 10?, 20?, 30 or more years?, that's a lot of QFTG-IT tests.
