Classic Beattie playing both sides until he finishes sniffing the political breeze. Beattie's and Rudd's comments taken together may well knock Summit's shares down again this week, and may also make Paladin somewhat less interested in raising the ante.
However, my experience of being a Beattie observer for many years tells me to expect him to flip on the side of uranium mining. His current statements are designed to appease his left-wing colleagues who are already starting to make noises knowing that mining is almost a fait accompli. He'll just keep playing the same game he's played up till now - remember it was only a few months ago he was as resolute as Carpenter that "there will be no uranium mining in Queensland on my watch". Now he's done the backflip for which he is so famous, but he is covering his backside against the flak.
Mark my words - he knows just how much money for Queensland is in them thar hills, and he's just playing his cards one at a time until it's a lay-down mizere.
No way I'm selling mine - in fact I may buy yours.... ;)
