All you nonholders and doubters with so called ' technical 'idea are missing the point and the whole concept of Pointerra coming to being .After discussions with some knowledgable people in this industry I will convey a short summary . The comments about the quality of the viewer reflect the look and feel of the dataset being hosted, not the hosting solution. Portree -scale datasets could be shown just like other companies, however the problem the sector has isnt hosting and visualising small data sets but dealing with far larger datasets and doing it to scale.This is the problem that Pointerra has solved and is the reason why surveyors ,engineers and a range of highly technical users of massive amounts of 3D data would be paying Pointerra to use their technology or undertaking integration projects to deploy the technology into their solutions. Geospatial,Engineering and Technology professionals have tried solutions like Potree and are now adopting Pointerra as its simply better , more scalable and ssupported by a professional organisation.The current dataset in the Pointerra try it viewer is 3 billion points of aerial lidar from a 100Gb raw dataset. No other cloud-based point cloud visualisation solution can deal with datasets of this size and more ! Their is talk of this becoming an even bigger dataset in colorised LiDAR point cloud however the issue isnt about how much better it will look. Its not about look as much as accuracy and the ability to easily handle truly massive datasets and to do so in simple ,intuitive web browser delivered , cloud hosted solution. Hope this summary puts everyones questions to bed as there it is in a nutshell . Pointerra has the monopoly and technology on this and there is no other company out there can do what they do .Like I have said just a matter of time before this train leaves the station!
