Fair comment, but I think NS have no desire or intention to be a direct competitor with youtube. This from their website :- "Nice Shorts is an Australian-based website dedicated to showcasing quality short films, animation, and music videos made by aspiring filmmakers and visual artists from all over the world. We aim to help future directors, animators, and visual artists get noticed by people in the industry and help them reach an audience through the growing medium that is the internet."
A niche market, a specific interest group, whereby one can exhibit their talent to an interested audience, then simply throw it into a massive wash like Youtube. ( which may in the end be a victim of being too diverse, if that makes sense?).
I also see advantages to advertisers, retailers, and of course running cost when your community shares a common interest.
As I said have a look at NS and have a dig around. Its helped reinforced my decision to buy DES.
