Check out this chart, this one would have been tricky to understand if watching at the time.......
I have no way of knowing, but I guess it shows an example of more than one group being involved in a stock & exiting at different times.
(or perhaps it shows a majority exit, followed by a drive up to finish unloading and set short positions)
When a large position is held like this, where possible, the position will be defended, and the stock supported.
The key things being the gap ups (which encourages (retail) shareholders to retain their positions, with the promise of even greater profits = encourages greed), and a serious supply event occurring.....rarely does an event as large as this one just get consolidated without much damage being done.......in this stock it certainly was the initial supply event, which probably triggered the staged exit of other professional holders.
