I hope I am right as well. I have a bit too much of this one. I really feel things are heading in the right direction in so far as the issues we saw last year that made the stock tank.
-comm is divested -the climate is FAR more favorable in the u.s. -the only real competitor left is ats. i would think the cut throat game is coming to an end as the market matures. I have been studying oligopolies recently in school and it has really shed some light on things. I saw an interesting article on the cell phone industry earlier today that i'll try and post a link to tomorrow. I just think the pricing situation will improve but it will take time to weed out a few competitors that are on their last leg.
I really can't stress enough how the climate is changing for these cameras. That announcement in arizona was huge and the data coming out of it when they kept the cameras on but didn't issue tickets was very convincing. Everyone has done a great job of framing the issue of if you are against, then you are some mad man running over children. The data also supports the claims that it slows people down, saves lives and decreases property damage.
The business model is very unique in that the revenue trails the announced wins by at least 6 months. This last winning streak won't be seen in the half year. The only thing that will be seen are the added expenses of staff to get the wins. I think it is the companies responsibility to educate the market about how things work.
As for it being great in a recession? People are still going to speed regardless and this market is just starting.
You see one on the horizon?
Best of luck.
