Every one needs to spend on living expenses.
I would rather have the money in my pocket and chose if and when I want to pay extra tax by buying the items allowed for in any disposable income.
Or I could just save more by not spending on those things.
Most people spend what they earn. So a higher gst and zero income tax will give people a feeling of greater control over their money and feel they are getting a better deal from taxation.

however mainly individual private users pay gst

companies normally do not pay much gst if any at all as they do not tend to be end users
