Blitzer, it was not a minor problem at the Paradigm U/G. Where there is normally a 3 or an 8 kw pump at the face there was a 20 kw used there and did not keep up that well. When arriving on site we had to stop in at the crib hut to sign in and grab wet weather gear to go U/G, we still looked like drowned rats when we signed out to leave, nothing stopped you from getting soaked, then the salt rash set in when we dried out. Any road base that was on the decline ended up at the face, to get the jumbo up away from the face it had to be towed with the bogger as the bare wet floor was to slippery.

There is an aquifer running under the Paradigm pit, they tried to get under it, somewhat successful until they hit a drill hole, (Blast, hurry down with the 20kw pump in the bogger bucket, go for a coffee and wait for the air to clear....... After coffee, 200mm of the bogger cab showing above water level)

Yes there was visible free gold U/G, nice as most places you do not see it now, but the price you pay to mine it cuts into the profits.

If you do not hit the aquifer or any drill holes that go through it, great place to mine!!!! I was surprised when NST went back drilling at Paradigm, I thought there would be a few people still around, maybe not that matter?
