If you are determining the value of one or other of the companies then double counting cross holdings become an issue, but in this case you are determining the value of the combined(RND and TBR) entity so it's not a problem.
Yep, your method seems reasonable, its only a guesstimate until the next accounts. Production has been up a little, and the higher gold prices reduce the amount of gold needed to be sold to cover costs, so my guesstimate is probably a little higher than yours.
