Tassal tackles expose-- Freshagenda, page-11

    Hi Dex,
I hadn't so I Googled it just now - my nic came from how I was feeling when I joined hotcopper.
Mind you I still feel the same.

Yes, my point was that sometimes it is "better the devil we know"...
4Corners has lots of fun pointing at food producers doing "the wrong thing" and the banning of export of live beef cattle to Indonesia when Julia was in charge has emboldened them unfortunately. That incident alone led to thousands of cattle starving to death in the north as a result of a fast approaching drought and nowhere to sell their stock. I think I'd rather be hit in the head and have my throat cut in a few minutes than starve to death with dingoes eating me alive as I was too weak to defend myself.

Latte swilling city dwellers should not have the power to dictate foreign policy if it is based upon unfounded or rare cases of less than perfect procedures that happen overseas where it is beyond our power to dictate how people will behave. Obviously we also need elected representatives that have more than an ounce of common sense - chance of that happening any time soon is very fat.

I don't hold TGR but keep an eye on it, so might in the future.
I am a farmer so reckon I have plenty of exposure to the vagaries of the weather and changes in Government policy and holding TGR would only add to that.

FWIIW, I believe we as consumers have a responsibility to find out who produces our food, how they do it, where they do it and what their philosophy is and if it aligns with our own. If we don't then fine, just don't complain when you find you've been eating rubbish for all these years. Not saying that Tassal is guilty of such a thing. I do have concerns about the ecological damage that any type of animal confinement system imparts. Nutrient overload is the problem.

The nanny state and people's lack of responsibility for anything they do in their life will destroy every nation over time - maybe that is why we have seen the unthinkable happen in the elections in the USA?
Perhaps the few people that voted wanted less nanny and more goat?? Time will tell if they made the right choice.

You are not one of those Dex, as you have pointed out, one just needs to take the time to find out.
I am always happy when a consumer contacts me to ask if they can come to see how we farm, or asks what we feed our animals etc. I wish more were interested.

    Cheers,
