With the amount of money being managed against passive indices nowadays I'd love to know how index providers calculate these adjustments, for CWN and others in the future. If it's as simple as Packers 35 million shares now being removed from the free float calculation, meaning it has an additional 35mn share index weight, that's buying index funds need to do to get to the benchmark weight (about 10 days volume).

I'll try to find out how the index providers perform these calculations but if anyone does know please share. I'm guessing there is more to it than the above.
