Heard a nice well respected retired Admiral ( Australian) chatting about this today on the radio. His thought were that the President Elect may get "a very cold reality shower" when he is fully briefed on the costs and that at least one other former presidents had claimed the same prior to getting into the hot seat. He mentioned former President Reagan promising a 600 ship fleet. I did get to play with one of the Iowa-class battleship his plan brought back into service

The costs of such a huge Force is astronomical and largely pointless and only political. If president elect Trump brings back the now 'again' retired Iowa-class battleship I will chuckle. An effective military is needed. Happily ASB is well placed to provide effective and efficient tools to this end.

Show boats and lots of shiney boots do not make a great country. Effective efficient industry, development, education and research create growth and great countries.
