"I won't address the rest of your content because I don't want to have a debate like religion. Essentially it is a debate between short term and long term investing and we each have our views that appeals to us. It is a flawed argument to try to compare which is better. Which piece of string is longer?"

You won't address my argument because it is coherent and explains why a hold is a better strategy on a strong and strongly upward trending stock like NST than a strategy based on licking ones finger and putting it in the air.

Instead you just resorted to going off-topic and clouding the argument with all types of hypothetical examples and examples of other stocks, like SDL, which obviously and patently had a risk profile far exceeding where NST's currently stands (if you enjoy rubbing salt into those wounds there is a thread you can go to for that).

I'd say anyone who got in early on your other examples BHP, RIO, CBA, WOW, FMG would have had the potential of becoming wealthy in the true sense of the word if they had have bought early and held on. Of course in some of these examples we are talking decades or longer, but that's the name of the game when you view markets as wealth creators, like I do, not a perpetual seat at the casino like you do.

Go and tell the people who got into Apple early and held for perpetuity what great fools they are. I'll leave it at that. It's not like I'm promoting every gold stock or promoting holding gold and silver bullion or predicting gold will go to 2k/oz. In fact all I've said about gold is that the inflows we have seen into gold ETF's this year are likely to provide good support for the price.

If you follow my Spyder watch chart, I've presented some facts. One fact is that after the big short raid on gold in 2013 the paper gold price was supported at the $US1,200 level even after outflows in gold ETF's had accelerated pace. We are actually in a much stronger position now as ETF holding have been bought up at the highest rate in history during the course of this year. To reverse this trend will take more than a 5min "I love America speech" by the Chump. Judging by the people on the streets in some of these major bankster capitals, not everyone fell in love with his dream for the future.

I only invest where I see fundamental medium term (5 year) value based on FA. (TBR, NST and RMS is what I hold for the medium term until I see a reason to change). Come back in 5 years and let me know how I've gone with all three.
