Macrobusiness like all newspapers report on whats happened not what is about to happen. So if you listen to them you will always be late to the party. Also, the investing type newspapers always report in the negative - the sky is falling - because it brings in more readers. For example: The Daily Reckoning writes articles that are negative telling us we will lose all our money unless we subscribe to them, as only they have the answers. If you subscribe their articles are positive and encourage you to invest. So, what you are reading is not helping you invest.
I know a few things:
1. Macrobusiness etc. sit in a cushy offices and have no idea what is really going on in the mining towns
2. BHP/RIO/FMG trains are running flat out
3. There are between 15-30 ships sitting off the coast of Port Hedland etc. every day waiting to be filled
4. The economies in the mining towns seem to have turned a corner, its quite positive now
5. It was a construction boom not a mining boom. Construction is roughly finished. The miners are not spending much but that is prudent with low commodity prices. It does not mean the end is nigh but it does mean a bottom and what happens after the bottom???
6. China is still growing at 6%, the US is growing normally, and the EU is not in recession. So they all need resources to build. Have a look at the construction going on these countries
7. The banks have trillions of dollars waiting to flood into the market. The first sign of financial trouble was in 2007 which was 10 YEARS AGO! How long do you think it takes to recover? Watch for news in the US where they change banking regulation, then we will be truly off and racing
8. There is trillions of dollars of investors money waiting to invest
9. Macrobusiness etc. will tell you everything is fine long after all this money has pushed asset prices through the roof!
And finally - there has been no exploration for what - 5 years??? So sometime soon there will be a mad rush to explore and the next boom will kick off. Personally I believe we are at the bottom moving up into the next peak.
BUT I could be completely wrong...
