Well huon would have a vested interest in reducing numbers in Macquarie harbour, <10% of their salmon are there and Tassal/Petuna have a lot more fish there than them. They are also expanding offshore. They did make a decision to destock with the warmer weather which led to the lower EBITDA per fish and maybe they think Tassal/Petuna got a free pass because they didn't follow suit.
All speculation though, not exactly sure what the situation actually is like. One thing Tassal does do much better though is getting a higher revenue per kg of salmon. You just have to walk into the supermarket to see how it thrashes huon in marketing to the retail sector.
Hard to say what the impact will be, its an industry insider so has more weight because of that but is the direct competitor with a huge vested interest.
Also label of company CEO is incorrect Peter Bender is the CEO she is an executive director but as a couple I think decision making lines would be blurred
