IMHO this "war" is all a sham
Nothing has ever rung true regarding this particular conflict as your post shows

It simply doesn't make sense, of course people are being killed and there are some people with bad intentions in the middle of it but as a war it's a failure
You could be excused if you thought that the is a sort of ethnic cleansing, ie Syria was thought of as an European country by many and the people fighting against them are Muslims and then there is the whole business of half the people want to go to Germany or similar for various reasons

A war is where you have two groups of people who hate one another and set about blowing each other to bits

This war has the most powerful armed forces in the world involved and the war has been going on for over five years ???????? ---------- with no result

If they were serious Syria would have ceased to exist
