If that were true there'd be no such thing as good will value. One of the things good will covers is that part of a business that cannot be valued yet gives value to the company, be it brand recognition, customer base. It attempts to value that part of a business that, by definition, can't be valued. Goodwill includes the worth of corporate identity which can be thought of as that value that makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts.
