I do not understand the detailed process of fish farming. Perhaps someone could enlighten me on why TGR needs a freshwater dam to supply water to their fish pens in the open ocean.? Presumably, the current freshwater supply is either too expensive or there is not enough of it. If council manages the water supply, then TGR may have been a bit presumptuous to ask council to build a dam. They may have been better off to tell council their water requirements and let council determine how they were going to meet them. (The article reads that the Council GM is saying Councillors have been informed and the Councillors doing a shultz ("We know nothing"). There also seems to be a fair bit of politicking going on. I suspect that the "jobs and growth" mantra will win. The whingers will lose this one.
