You raise an interesting question - I have learnt that in the USA they are most flexible now in looking at energy costs the look @ all sources , renewables , gas, electricity and a number of users look at the cost of all to do the job. I presume in those discussions its only those that use electricity to drive heat - not sure if it includes Co-gen via gas or waste products producing electricity.
If gas prices increase I presume electricity prices go up as well. The Generation assets are only turned on when profitable and as I understand it they can be turned on remotely as well.
Really as long as the company is cash flow profitable it should ride out this wave ...
Must remember not to invest in unloved sectors in future this is much like having an investment in SVW or SWM - it really has to find a bottom before you can decide much...
