A blip at best , livex of wagyu to Japan less than 9000 a year & they have been struggling to get numbers due to the money being offered at local feedlots , around $6 kilo live weight for both steers & heifers where the live trade mainly takes steers.I sent some to Japan about 12yrs ago through an exporter in Toowoomba I don't think I would bother again . A couple were rejected before the boat & were sold for about a 3rd value so no control no play. The specs for live trade are around 300kg , so only weaners not slaughter cattle . As for 3rd party wagyu culling ? what do you mean ? All wagyu I know of are sold before they enter the feedlot & Japan is a very small market The US & Korea take more.Most of the wagyu cattle I will be marketing this year are already spoken for .
