Nice work Dej ,
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned here but what really lights me up about this project is that it's going to produce dispatchable power.
The NEM uses a merit order effect which means the cheapest production of energy goes first. If it uses solar it's free, or night time baseload (pretty cheap), and then can sell into the NEM market place at times of highest demand and price.
If it were to use solar to pump in the mornings then it could also get REC'S for power sold into the late afternoon/ evening demand curve .
The only hiccup I see is that the government is failing to lower the returns it expects to get from the Clean energy
Fiance Corporation to reflect lower global interest rates. This puts Genex at a disadvantage as the CEFC, IMO, would be pretty interested in a project like this...let's hope competitive finance is available else where - but what a pity we as Australians can't all benefit from an amazing project because our current lib/nat government hates renewables even with Turnbull at the helm
