I like using python for web scraping/research type stuff but once you want to start trading you probably want to switch to c++ (even with multiprocessing python is too slow)
Screeners for the asx are only basic - you will be able to do simple price stuff but thats about it
My advice would be to learn to scrape reuters, morningstar, yahoo etc (its really easy to get price data from yahoo).
