Re: CEO Update
Dear All,
As some might have noticed, the last few months have been spent focusing on defining our company's purpose and direction and communicating this to our people, our clients, and our partners. We decided to use the annual report, issued last month, as the first "external" platform to articulate our purpose, capabilities, and key strategic imperatives. The document is now posted on our website (issued on the 31st of March) and I would recommend you take some time to review it if you haven't done so already. Over the next month our website will also be updated (currently being re-designed), and our messaging aligned across all communication platforms. The website will also have a new recruiting web-based page, which will make it easier for new personnel to express interest in joining our group.
As we implement our path to a sustainable growth, we have carried out a number of other activities over the last period. Recently, we have revised and streamlined our management system, reducing our policies to seven key documents, and are now working on updating our standards, procedures, and tools that will sit behind these. Part of this process has also involved revising Tempo's Code of Conduct. I remind all that we should familiarize ourselves with this document (which has been sent to all) and return the acknowledgment page signed. The Code of Conduct specifies standards of behaviour for all of us, and by applying these standards we protect and enhance our reputation as a company with integrity.
Over the coming months we will work to ensure that the "Tempo way" be defined further in what lies underneath our policies, i.e. in our standards, procedures, and tools. These will be clear, concise, and effective without the need to produce unnecessary lengthy, worded documents which, unfortunately, characterize many management systems of large corporations. We need to keep the paper work to the minimum, ensuring that we focus on having the right tools for our jobs, and that our standards and procedures give enough guidance to provide for a consistent way of carrying out our work, but, at the same time, don't stifle the group with unnecessary bureaucracy. The balance is hard to keep, but our goal remains to have a lean group focused on quality, not quantity.
In addition to having spent the last few months focusing on implementing and communicating our strategy internally and externally, we have spent much effort in further strengthening relationships with existing and future clients and partners. Without getting too much into details, it is safe to say that we are establishing ourselves as an emerging reality, one that is able to raise interest both from clients and large international groups which are interested in working in Australia. I hope that I can provide more details over the months to come, as these opportunities materialize further. Tempo has a healthy pipeline of opportunities identified that will hopefully underpin our business for the years to come. We believe that although the market is tough, it is not one which will have the better of our ability to deliver positive results if we continue focusing on our clients through the quality of our workmanship, productivity, and maintaining a low overhead structure.
