From the comments made by David in the article it appears Thred are developing a financial platform of their own design with the focus being on reaching a large untapped user base in emerging countries.

Maybe thred intend to acquire FGD integrate and build out their EZPAY platform that way. Maybe we will see some sort of digital currency experience in the future.

I think thats likely a long term vision to build the bridges that will bring that fresh untapped UGC to the SM platforms as traffic with the addition of purchasing power to boot. Time will tell.
