Finally a post of good sense.

"No proof, no play." needs to be extended to an additional tax (medicare levy extension) to cover the costs of their children not being vaccinated and requiring medical attention.  Current private costs are approx $800/day for a normal ward, and in excess of $4000/day in NICU/Paed ICU - both "bed only" rates before medications and treatment is taken into account.  Whooping cough for infants that survive will usually entail 3-6 weeks in NICU and 1-2 weeks in the normal wards, so it gives you a rough idea of the cost to Medicare/Private insurance - circa $150-$250K.

First step would be for private insurers to NOT cover unvaccinated children, or their parents (fair business risk management).

Second would be an extra 10% Medicare levy for lack of proof of vaccination to cover anticipated costs (ie ~$8k average, taken from gross income, not net) giving a nod to the hospitalisation rates of unvaccinated children (1:50-1:80 per year overall).

Third would be to withhold any unemployment/disability/other benefit the parents of unvaccinated children may get from the Govt.

Whilst some have been narcissistically focusing on their own perceived rights, as taxpayers WE have the right to withhold funding to you, too.  Why should we let you cost us up to a quarter of a million dollars for YOUR "conscientious" objection.  We already have bulging wards, and limited ICU resources for genuinely unpreventable illnesses/injuries, let alone having to pander to the consequences of the actions of some narcissists.

To all those that bleat about being forced to vaccinate your kids, I will meet you at 100km/h on the right hand side of the road, because I feel safer seeing all the traffic come towards me so I can make sure you avoid me. (Look up the word "mores".)
