the advice you must wait for is from the liquidator (rather than from the company board)
generally, you must be patient, since it can take 1 to 2 years before the liquidator gives notice
if a liquidator has been appointed, the company must advise the ASX or otherwise you can look it up on the ASIC website
you should contact the liquidator or administrator yourself (read TD 92/101)
this tax legislation only applies if you a shares 'investor' & account for your shares under capital gains tax (CGT)
if you are a share trader (i.e., carry on a business of share trading) then the CGT legislation does not apply and you simply value your shares at market value at 30 June and thus claim your loss
