I live in the tropics and when other insurers were wriggling out of paying, Suncorp honoured all their policy holders in a timely fashion when the last cyclone hit our coast. This proved to be a far better strategy as many switched to Suncorp enhancing their reputation further. Every time we have a cyclone hit the coast the media go berserk with sensationalist footage and the SUN share price dives only to recover a few months later. Apart from their profit warning, market turn down, cyclone season and the Paris talks on climate change have all had an impact.
